Fei Tian Students Shine in Shen Yun Chorus and Orchestra
2009 concert highlights academy’s performers
The Shen Yun Performing Arts Chorus recently brought out a recording of its long-anticipated 2009 Concert and Fei Tian students—both past and present—added charm and talent to the effort. The 200+ strong chorus supported soloists from Shen Yun Performing Arts that currently tour in Shen Yun’s latest show.
Selected Feitian students also joined the Shen Yun Performing Arts Orchestra led by maestro Chen Rutan in the performance. Students studying string, percussion and wind instruments gained valuable performing experience as they performed with experienced Shen Yun musicians.
The chorus provided the musical cornerstone for renowned tenors Hong Ming and Yuan Qu, and audience favorite Guimin Guan and sopranos Bai Xue, Min Jiang, and Jianin Xu. Fei Tian alumna Rachael Bastick lit the stage with her song, “May You Understand.” The soprano and Australian native is quickly becoming a favorite in Shen Yun’s 2010 touring season.
The chorus is unique with its participants mostly of ethnic Chinese background. The chorus is just one of the many opportunities students are offered for performing in professional venues. Students from all over the world are drawn to Fei Tian Academy for opportunities such as the Shen Yun Performing Arts Chorus.
