Music Program at FTAA
Fei Tian Academy of the Arts’ music program provides professional training to gifted young musicians for careers as performing artists. Students are offered a balanced curriculum of theoretical study, ear training (solfège), performance training, and valuable orchestra experience, and receive personalized attention from an experienced faculty specialized in both Chinese and Western music. In addition, the program is distinguished by its provision of unusually frequent performance opportunities. Students are able to partake in international tours that include at least 80 public performances each year. This distinctive and thorough approach to musical training gives students a firm grounding in their development and takes them from competence to artistry.
- Music Appreciation - This course covers the basic vocabulary necessary to discuss and analyze music. Scores of various styles and genres are studied through analysis, writing, and classroom performance.
- Music Theory – This course focuses on the theoretical elements of music including sound and pitch, rhythm, melody, harmony, and notation.
- Solfège – Solfège (ear training) is a vital component in the training of a musician, aiding the student in perfecting pitch and rhythm performance skills.
- Orchestra – The orchestral repertoire covered in this program offers students a comprehensive performance experience through various periods and genres.
- Vocal Program – The vocal performance coaching is designed to prepare young singers for the rigors of conservatory training.
