Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Middle school students are in their early adolescence, which is an exciting and demanding time of rapid growth, enthusiasm for learning, and increasing independence. The goal of the FTAA middle school program is to provide an environment that helps each young student to develop the best quality of intellectual knowledge, integrity, self-discipline, independence, and concern for others by addressing the key aspects of the maturing child: the intellectual, aesthetic, spiritual, ethical, physical, emotional, and the creative.
The middle school academic program is geared toward the mastery of skills in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies and science. The social studies curriculum has an emphasis on traditional Chinese history, culture, and arts. The study of English, Chinese, and history is highly integrated as an interdisciplinary humanities course. Students are taught to perceive critically, classify and synthesize new materials, solve problems, and form judgments in the humanities, the arts, and the sciences.
