Fei Tian Academy of the Arts Receives Hilde Gerst Memorial Scholarship
NEW YORK —On July 8, 2007, representatives of the Hilde Gerst Foundation attended the NTDTV International Chinese Classical Dance Competition and offered an award to the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts for its unique and special contributions to the new renaissance of traditional culture and arts.
At the Classical Dance Competition, contestants affiliated with Fei Tian Academy received a total of six awards, including first prizes in the adult female and junior male divisions, second prize in the junior female division, third prizes for both the junior male and female division, and one honorable mention for the junior male division.
Accepting the award from the Hilde Gerst Foundation, Professor Tiejun Zhang from Fei Tian Academy said, "We are here to promote the pure essence of the Chinese traditional culture with its five thousand years of history. The spirit of this culture is so pure and graceful."
"The Fei Tian Academy is here today because of the reemergence of a culture that the Gods arranged for all of humanity to realize. The Chinese history left a truly beautiful culture that now belongs to all of mankind and brings humanity a much needed brightness and kindness. The art carries the message of Compassion, the most beautiful human characteristic you will find in people's hearts -- it is a conscience that is just."
The Hilde Gerst Memorial Scholarship was established in New York and its mission is to help potential young artists to develop and become world class artists. Foundation member Mr. Brown said all their members agree Fei Tian Academy has some of the most unique artists among the art schools in New York State.
Fei Tian Academy focuses on reviving traditional culture and arts, while emphasizing the student's moral education, as well as their knowledge, sensibility, and creativity. The students have a chance to learn traditional visual arts, music, and the highest standard Chinese classical dance, and are also given opportunities to perform around the world.
