Campus and Dormitory Policies

The Fei Tian Academy of Arts strives to train our students in traditional performing and fine arts in a community that embraces and encourages the development of moral and ethical values. The majority of our students participate in the residential program, so it is even more incumbent upon us to provide a healthy, happy, and safe environment in which they may learn and grow. The resident life program is the heart of the school, and we want each of our students to feel this is their home away from home.

Dormitory Policies

The dorm areas on the Fei Tian campus are not coeducational, and students should only use the appropriately designated stairwells to each area of the dorm. Girls are strictly prohibited from entering the boys’ areas and vice versa. Students are responsible for providing and cleaning their own linens. Students are encouraged to bring only essential items.

Room assignments and roommates are pre-assigned and are usually based on students' age and/or preferences depending on their tenure at the Fei Tian. All students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. Additionally, all students will be responsible for helping to keep their dormitory hall clean.

It is important that all students rest and sleep well at night. Thus, students must not speak loudly or make noise during evening quiet hours designated by Fei Tian.

Room check occurs once a week to make sure that students are keeping their rooms clean and organized, that laundry has been cleaned or stored, that beds are made, etc. If a student fails the room check, the student will be subject to warning and/or appropriate consequences depending on the severity of the infraction.

Food and Drink

All students will be provided with free lunch, while students in residence will additionally be provided with free breakfast and dinner. We are committed to provide our students with a nutritious diet.

Students should eat all meals in the dining room. Health and safety regulations require that students adhere to the dress code in the dining room. Permission is required for any student to take food out of the dining room.

Food or drink is not permitted in classrooms or training studios without special permission.

Dating

As a tradition of Fei Tian, dating is not permitted on campus.

Drug, Alcohol, Smoking

As a tradition of Fei Tian, drugs, alcohol and cigarettes are not permitted on campus.

Dress Code

Students are expected to dress in good taste at all times. The following are guidelines for appropriate dress:

  • No halters, deep v-necks, strapless tops, tube tops, spandex, spaghetti straps, undershirts, or sheer shirts
  • No tops that expose any part of the stomach or abdomen
  • Tank tops may be worn as long as bra straps are not exposed
  • No mini-skirts or shorts shorter than “fingertip length”
  • Appropriate underwear must be worn at all times
  • Clothing portraying foul / obscene language or graphics may not be worn

Students should dress appropriately for special events and activities sponsored by Fei Tian. A member of the Resident Faculty will approve or disapprove any outfit in question.

Visitors

All persons not enrolled at Fei Tian who have legitimate reasons to visit must request permission. Any unauthorized visitor will be turned away. Visitors must apply in writing or by phone to a school administrator at least 24 hours in advance for permission. Persons with infants and/or small children are discouraged from social visits during school hours.

Conduct off Campus

When students are off campus, they are expected to act as ambassadors and representatives of the Fei Tian Academy of Arts. Fei Tian reserves the right to address all unacceptable behavior that occurs off campus, whether it occurs before, during, or after school hours or if it occurs during any school breaks.
