Admissions - Overview
The Fei Tian Academy of the Arts welcomes students from across the United States and around the world to apply. In order to gauge a student’s potential for success within the demanding and intense program at the Academy, we complete a thorough evaluation using the application information, recommendations, and the audition or portfolio presentation. In this evaluation we are seeking individuals who:
- Demonstrate a high level of artistic experience/schooling and potential for professional growth in their chosen art form for their age, evidenced by samples of art and/or auditions,Succeed and thrive in a challenging and rigorous academic environment,
- Are excited and enthusiastic about learning,
- Have good moral character proven through recommendation letters, and
- Have the ability and desire to make a positive contribution to the Fei Tian family.
In keeping with its mission as a Falun Dafa Buddhist institution, the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts gives preference to young practitioners of Falun Dafa, but it nonetheless welcomes all talented young students of all different cultural backgrounds from across the United States and around the world who are interested in learning the classical Chinese arts and who exhibit the artistic, academic, and personal qualities that we feel will allow them to thrive in this unique environment.
Students interested in pursuing studies at the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts should submit their complete application packages three months prior to the starting date of the academic semester he or she wishes to become enrolled.
The complete application package includes a filled-out application form, at least one completed recommendation letter, an official copy of the most current report card as well as the previous year’s final report card, a copy of the birth certificate, and a copy of immunization records. If records are in a language other than English, applicants should have the records translated into English and certified. For elementary school applicants, if the school records are not available, applicants must request a letter certifying the year(s) of school attended.
A personal interview and/or audition with the parents and student will be scheduled upon passing the initial screening of the qualifications based on the completed package. At the interview, the applicant will be required to take an entrance test. This test will help to determine a student’s academic achievement compared with the curriculum used at Fei Tian Academy of the Arts and if any remedial instruction will be required.
Acceptance and placement are based upon the results of the interview/audition and the entrance test, the desire of the student and parents for an education based on Falun Dafa Buddha Law principles, the academic and disciplinary records from previous years, and recommendations.
A probationary period of six weeks is required for all newly admitted students. Parents will be notified of concerns or any recommended changes in placement by the end of the sixth week of the student’s attendance at the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts. Any application found to contain false information may result in the student being denied enrollment or being immediately dismissed from school.
The Fei Tian Academy of the Arts abides by all applicable federal, state and local laws which prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, ethnicity, citizenship status, veteran or military status, age, disability, and any other legally protected basis, in any educational or employment program, policy, or practice of the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts.
